Food for thought
Why is it that I get in the mood to ramble philosophically whe. I don’t have the ability to fully write out my thoughts.
I came up with an interesting thought too, on the topic of food. Humans are by nature omnivorous, and if any of you have followed the works of Michael Pollan you’d know about the variety of diets we can live on (and some that make us sick) What may be yummy in one culture is considered disgusting in another. Plus, you’d be amazed at the politics surrounding food, both in past and present.
I think that relationships and the choice therein is the same way. There are a variety of forms and configurations that are sustainable. However, we are encultured to believe that only specific configurations are acceptable. This is further reinforced by institutions that discriminate against those who consciously deviate, either by the withholding of support/privileges or putting resources at risk.
Sometimes I feel like a self-aware omnivore in a room of zealous vegans (some of whom secretly slip a little cream in their coffee or eat a piece of bacon)
